Fees & Financing

One of the most stressful parts of hiring a lawyer is paying legal fees. To help alleviate that stress, our staff is willing and able to talk honestly with you about legal fees at any point during your search for a lawyer and for the duration of your case. All clients receive itemized invoices at least once per calendar month which breaks down exactly where their legal fees are going.

One of the most stressful parts of hiring a lawyer is paying legal fees and securing financing for the duration of a case.

Retainers & Payment Plans

Legal representation at The Lien Law Firm is billed hourly at a standard rate for all clients. You put down a retainer at the beginning of your case that covers the first 8-10 hours of work. When your retainer account starts to run low, you put down another retainer payment to keep it replenished. At the end of your case, any money left in your retainer account goes back to you.

To help with budgeting and cash flow, many clients choose to put money into their retainer account on a regular basis instead of waiting for it to run low. After placing the initial retainer, you can choose to make payments into your trust account at any time. Many clients make these payments in conjunction with their paydays to help keep budgeting consistent. Remember, any money left in your trust account at the end of your case goes back to you, so you cannot overpay your legal fees.

Forms of Payment

We accept payments in the form of cash, e-check/ACH transfer, certified check/money order, or credit/debit card. Payments can be made easily at our office or online through a client portal. You can use any combination of payment methods that works best for you. With your permission, third parties may also contact us to make payments on your behalf without receiving any information about your case.

Legal Insurance Networks & Employer Assistance Programs (EAPs)

Some employers provide legal insurance benefits to help cover the cost of legal fees. If your employer does not provide this benefit, then some of these coverage options are available for direct purchase by consumers. The Lien Law Firm is in-network with the following benefit plans:
